Peace

Free your mind and the peace of God will follow
All of our worrying won't change the situation
So stop pacing
Stop wringing your hands
Let God be God
"His eye is on the sparrow, and I know that he watches me."

Poetry

We Wear the Mask

    WE wear the mask that grins and lies,
    It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
    This debt we pay to human guile;
    With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
    And mouth with myriad subtleties.

    Why should the world be over-wise,
    In counting all our tears and sighs?
    Nay, let them only see us, while
            We wear the mask.

    We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
    To thee from tortured souls arise.
    We sing, but oh the clay is vile
    Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
    But let the world dream otherwise,
            We wear the mask!

Movie's Worth Watching!

So since I have time to pass, I decided to talk about three of my favorite movies. Not that it makes it any special because I have alot of favorite movies, but these made it to my list of to talk about today.

FIREPROOF: This movie is simply beyond words! It is so realistic it is crazy! Its about this young couple who is having a hard time in their marriage. Cody works too much and his wife is tired of fighting for his attention. After a huge fight, Kathrine decides to file for a divorce. Cody, however finds God. Giving his heart to God, he trusts in the Lord to bring peace into his marriage. He attempts "The love dare" which is a 30 day journal in which he is to do acts of kindness for his wife. It was epic!

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF: This movie is a classic! I have seen it so many times its a wonder I havent memorized it! But it is basically about a Jewish man and his family undergoing change in their traditions. I laugh and cry (not so much cry) through out this film. Besides, it has classic songs like "Match Maker" and "Sunrise, sunset." Whats not to like?!

THE LAST SIN EATER: When I first saw it, I was shocked how well it was made! Th eplot was touching. It was about a young girl who searches for a way to relieve the guilt from the things she has done. She finds no peace until she meets "the strangers" who tells her about the "sin eater."

All three of these are totally worth watching!

First Impressions

On the first night I had a warm welcome... yeah. Sorta. I and a few of the other "newbies" were just calling it a day and getting into our sleeping bags (yup, no beds) when we recieved a visitor. On the ceiling was a huge monster spider!! No joke! It was at least 4 inches across, huge, harry and UGLY- kinda like a Chihuahua- only with hair.

Everyone let out a yell (even the guys) We sounded like a bunch of girl scouts! So the yelling spooked the monster and it fell on this dude's pillow with a 'thump.' I mean it was so big you could hear it land! While we freaked out and scrambled to get away, the spider just looked at us like "wow, whats up with the new guys in town?"

Suddenly, the spider chihuahua cruised out the hut door. We were all freaking out because we figured the Chihuahua spider had friends. They might decide to come back for a late night snack. We literally took turns through out the night doing "guard duty."

The next morning, when we told Reggilo (our translator) he simply shrugged and said they have natural remedies for spider bites. (Is that supposed to be comforting?) He smiled and said "as long as the spider doesnt kick me off my cot or steal my back pack, I'm okay."

So I suppose monster spiders are regulars here. *Gulp* On a more seriouse note, I got my first glance about what I am really up against. Will explain more about it later, but I need to be heading back to the village. I miss and love you all!

Why Forgive?

When asked by the desciples how many times one should forgive their brother, Jesus answered "Not 7 times, but 7 times 70."

Now of He wasnt meaning that in a literal sense, but meaning that you never stop forgiving. Why forgive? Because when you forgive someone you realize that you have set prisoners free, and that prisoner is really yourself. Forgiving breaks the cycle of revenge. Revenge is great excpet for one thing, it never settles the score.

Listen to this song by Chris August and think on what Jesus said.
