"The Lord is near the broken-hearted;
He is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down"
Psalm 34: 18
When I was younger, I used to visit my family in Italy. My cousin was amazing. She was very artistic and could make artwork out of a rock. She made this beautiful vase out of clay and she spent weeks working on it. She was very careful with every single detail and poured all she had into it. She gave it to her dad (my uncle) for Father's Day. He loved it.
One day, I was running through the house, chasing after the dog. You probably guessed right. My shoulder hit the stand it was sitting on and it fell and broke. Like any normal 12 year old, I ran upstairs to my room and waited to get in trouble. About 10 minutes later my Uncle called up to me from the bottom of the stairs.
He asked me what happened, and I had to make a choice. Lie and try to get out of it or tell the truth. So taking the high road, I admitted that I broke up. He looked me in the eye for a moment, then said:
"It's okay. I think I can fix it."
God is exactly like that. We as humans broke our relationship with Him by sinning, going against Him and turning our backs on him, chasing after things of the world. He however, in His mercy and love, look us in the eye and says "It's okay, I can fix it."
My Aunt used to say to me, "Even though we have fallen and allowed others to break our hearts, we still have God's love. He can put our hearts back together, but only if we give Him all the pieces."
This nearly braught tears to my eyes :)
